I don’t know when I actually started digital scrapbooking. Although my work in the field of photography only lasted 3 years, my learning from my art/photography degree has been interwoven in my personal and career life in many different ways.
My love of computers and technology started while pursuing another degree. Somehow, I went to working at a small magazine where I started to learn graphic design. Before leaving I had started creating invitations and photo business cards.
Much of my scrapbooking has been on fabric. After 5 years of creating contemporary photo quilts, I realized that I was happiest when working on the design part of each project. Working with digital scrapbooking was an easy and exhilarating step to take.
It’s only been recently that I have become more focused on the importance of passing on our heritage. There have been several occasions when I regret not having things documented. On one occasion, I was sorting through some old photos we inherited from my husband’s aunt. There were a couple of very old photos, but nothing was marked. Was this a photo of my daughter’s great, great grandmother? If I find the answer, it will be recorded in a hardbound scrapbook, hopefully, to be passed down to my grandchildren.
I am truly amazed by the technology we have available today. It is so exciting to be able to design digital scrapbooks. I am excited when I give one as a gift. I am excited when I design one for someone else whether it be for their family or a gift. I will respect your photos and your memories as I create a page or a scrapbook for you.
